Each of the 6 pawls has 2 teeth contacting the ratchet ring at the same time for safe and super-fast, 3.3-degree engagement.
 
The hub is also equipped with 5 sealed high end bearings for a long smooth ride in any weather.
 
The SURGE Hub has 3 main features: 3BY3, Instant Click, Insane Sound.
 
3BY3 Pawls - 3 out of the 6 pawls are engaging the ratchet ring simultaneously while the remaining 3 are half-way over towards engaging the next set of teeth on the ratchet ring, this mechanism enables us to use larger pawls & fewer ratchet teeth.
 
Instant Click - The slightest pedal movement makes the next 3 pawls fall instantly into place, resulting in instant click and no dead zones.
 
Insane Sound - The math is simple: large & robust 3BY3 Pawls + Instant Click on the large teeth of the ratchet ring = Insane Sound.
